The Public Health is consolidated as one of the great concerns of the Spaniards, since 48%places it among the main problems in their autonomous community, only surpassed by housing (53%) and ahead of unemployment (42%).
Are the data of the IPPSOS STUDY On the perception of public health in Spain, carried out in July and based on 6,000 interviews, which indicates the general perception of public health as moderately positive, with an average grade of 6.6 out of 10.
The house It is the main concern in most autonomous communities, with maximums in the Balearic Islands (73%) and La Rioja (82%). For its part, health restlessness reaches especially high levels in La Rioja (62%), Asturias, Andalusia (57%) and Castilla y León (56%), while unemployment remains a priority in Extremadura (57%), Castilla y León (46%) and Castilla-La Mancha (45%).

Madrid, together with Country Basque (27%) and Catalonia (20%), heads the ranking of communities best valued in health matters for the whole of the Spaniards. At the opposite end, Extremadura, Murcia, Balearic Islands and Canary Islands are indicated only by 2% as those that have the best healing.
The study also shows that Balearic Islands and Madrid are the autonomous communities with the highest proportion of citizens who score their health as outstanding (22%and 21%), well above the national average, which stands at 16%. They are followed by the Basque Country, Castilla y León and Extremadura (10%), while the Andalusians and Castellanomanchego are the least likely to point out excellence (13%).
The main active of the system is professionals: the professionalism and training of medical and nursing personnel reaches a 7.6 note, with 35% of outstanding qualifications, a percentage that exceeds 40% in Navarra, Madrid and the Basque Country.
On the contrary, waiting lists are the worst valued aspect, with an average grade of 4.7 and just 6% that considers it outstanding. In this area, Madrid and Extremadura are the most satisfied communities, while Navarra, Valencian Community and Cantabria show the lowest levels.
According to Silvia Bravo, Ipsos research director, “citizen perception shows a system with great strengths in sanitary human capital, but with a persistent challenge in waiting time management, which concentrates the greatest discontent.”
Waiting lists
Access problems focus on two main issues. On the one hand, the 60% of public health users indicate waiting lists for interventions, Consultations or evidence such as the greatest difficulty and, on the other, 53% denounces problems to achieve quotes in primary or specialized care. Other obstacles, of lower weight, are the difficulties of the online appointment system (34%) or frequent changes of assigned personnel (31%).
In the last two years, most Spaniards perceive worsening in waiting times, although some communities stand out in positive: Cantabria, Baleares, Madrid and Murcia have a greater proportion of citizens that indicate improvements. Even so, there is a generalized skepticism regarding measures to reduce waiting lists, since most consider that they do not generate visible results.
