The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, has assured that the youth contribution bases have grown above the general average (23.4%) since 2019, with an increase of 32.2% for young people between 25 and 29 years old and 31.9% for those under 24 years old.
“Young people contribute more, strengthening the system, and at the same time guaranteeing that their own pensions tomorrow will be more decent,” Saiz explained during his participation in the ‘Pensions 2025 Forum’ organized by the Association for the Progress of Management (APD) in Madrid.
In this way, the Minister of Social Security has emphasized that “It will never be true that a grandchild lives better the worse his grandparents live” and? pensions “are not a gift”are a “right that is the result of a lifetime of effort and contributions.”
For this reason, he has criticized the “voices” that want to confront young people and the elderly over public pensions. in an “unfair and even perverse” battle.
“Solidarity between generations is circular: today young people finance the pensions of the elderly, and tomorrow they will receive the same support from the system from future generations. If that chain is broken, we all lose,” he explained.
Employment pension plans
About the employment pension plans, has stressed that their evolution is “positive” and they must continue to “move forward”, with the elimination of barriers that prevent the implementation of pension plans in each sector and with their promotion.
“We must take an important step by promotion of the improvement of the social security system in Spain to continue achieving the objectives of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan”, he added while indicating that the Ministry he heads will continue to listen to contributions on this matter.
